WELCOME TO MY WEBSITE

I am an intellectual property lawyer and a registered patent attorney. I am Of Counsel with Schwegman, Lundberg & Woessner. I have expertise in licensing law, including e-commerce, and in patent law.

My career began as an electrical engineer in the computer science arts with the IBM Corporation. Shortly after that IBM sent me to law school. Thereafter I completed a full career with IBM during which I was, at various times, licensing attorney, patent attorney, managing attorney responsible for drafting all license agreements for IBM US, and executive in charge of intellectual property for IBM’s storage systems business.

After retiring from IBM in 1995, I entered the private practice of law serving as a Special Counsel with Cooley Godward Kronish, and later as a partner with DLA Piper, where I practiced license and technology agreement drafting and negotiation, agreement interpretation, and scope of license studies, as well as patent preparation and prosecution. I am currently Of Counsel with Schwegman, Lundberg & Woessner, engaged in patent application preparation and prosecution.

I am a patent law expert with substantial experience in prosecution history analysis and interpretation, form and content of patent applications including best mode and enablement, inequitable conduct issues, and patent preparation and prosecution generally. I have served as patent law expert witness in litigation matters, and I also serve as a non-testifying consultant for patent infringement and validity issues.
